The Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show will welcome more classic car clubs than ever before with over 130 groups attending, including 26 clubs making their show debut at Birmingham’s NEC, from Friday 31st March to Sunday 2nd April.
Leading the charge of the ‘newbies’ is the MG Car Club, a regular attendee at the event’s big sister show in November and a club known for its fantastic displays.
General Manager Adam Sloman said: “The MG Car Club is really looking forward to appearing at the show for the first time this year – we’ve had a lot of feedback from members who have visited in previous years about how good the show is and we can’t wait to be part of it.”
Marque specific clubs attending include the Freelander Owners Club, which kicks off a year of celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Freelander in 2017; The Riley Motor Club celebrates 60 years since the car was launched; Volvo Owners Club marks 90 years on the clock for the manufacturer, and U.K. Saabs paying tribute to 30 years of the Saab convertible.
Amongst the many anniversaries being celebrated, some are personal to the club, such as the Stourbridge Pre-War Car Club celebrating 50 years since it was founded, same as Sheffield Mini Club marking ten years. For the MR2 Drivers Club, the show marks the end of the club’s 25th anniversary year.
The new clubs appearing are also embracing the option to have ‘live working’ on their stands, with the Frisky Register stripping and rebuilding a Villiers 3T Twin engine. The Ford Nutz will be recreating the 1990s Ford workshop PDI checks that the cars were treated to, working on the engine and turbos and showing general maintenance checks completed.
The Fiat Coupe Club UK is promising to make an impact with its debut as it’s members reassemble a Fiat Coupe, including the suspension, braking system, rear sub assembly, under bonnet components and wheels.
With around 1,000 vehicles on display, the interactive show once again promises a fantastic mix of live demonstrations, expert advice, stunning classics and specialists traders.
As well as more classes for novices and masterclasses for those looking to enhance their skills in the Workshop, and more special guests on the live stage, there’ll also be around 350 specialist traders with marque specific retailers on offer including the UK’s biggest Spring autojumble.
