Product Description
Dinky Toys were introduced in 1931 as “Modelled Miniatures”, and these delightful die cast metal toys, which instantly became bestsellers, still give pleasure to both children and adults. More than 1000 different subjects were modelled, mostly transport related; they included cars, vans, lorries, buses, trains, military and farm vehicles, aircraft, ships and figures. Using colourful illustrations, David Cooke explains the history of Dinky Toys, which were created by Frank Hornby trains. This introduction to one of the best known and loved ranges of toys is ideal for both toy collector and for those with a nostalgic interest in the toys of yesteryear. David Cooke has always been a keen toy collector. In 1972 he founded the South West Model Club, and in 1979 the East Anglian Model Club. He is Toy Curator and a trustee at BressinghamSteam Museum in Norfolk.
