For the 1913 manual, Matchless introduce a 3 ½ hp twin, fitted with three-speed gear, which was a popular machine for solo riding.

They were convinced that the twin-cylinder engine was far superior to the single-cylinder engine of the same power, and discontinued the manufacture of machines fitted with the latter.

They’ve also introduced the chain-driven model to meet the growing demand for that class of machine.
