The Essential Buyers Guide Moto Guzzi 2-Valve Big
As soon as Moto Guzzi withdrew from racing at the end of 1957 its great engineer, Ing Giulio Cesare Carcano, began designing a new V-twin engine. The first sketches appeared late that year, and work continued into 1958, initially as an academic exercise, although many of the design features would eventually find their way to both the 3×3 Autoveicolo da Montagna and a sporting engine for the Fiat 500 moto car. Built initially as a 500 in 1959, then as a 650cc, this Fiat engine was the predecessor of the V7 that powers the bikes featured in this book.
